Make Your Own Biocidin® Gummies!

The Yummy Way to Deliver Botanicals

Having trouble getting your little one to take their Biocidin®? I’ve worked with various children, including my own niece and nephew. When it comes to taking supplements, some children open wide like a little bird, and others are pickier, refusing to cooperate.

Getting a child to take supplements shouldn’t be a battle! So, I set off on a mission determined to find a solution. I asked my inner child how can I make a “treat” that is healthy, playful, and effective?

The answer was gummies! Chewy, squishy, yummy gummies!

Begin with the Purest of Ingredients

Now, you might be asking, what makes these gummies healthy? They’re loaded with pure fruit juice, antioxidants, amino acids, and more!

  • Natural ingredients – No additives, flavours, or harmful dyes
  • Nutrient-dense foods – Açaí, blueberries, and gelatin
  • Botanicals – Biocidin®is a synergistic combination of botanicals that targets the entire GI tract to support microbial balance
  • No refined sugars – Real fruit juice, honey, and/or glycine sweeten these gummies

Let’s take a closer look at a few of the ingredients used in this recipe and their health benefits. Once we do, you might be tempted to sneak a few gummies for yourself!

The Goodness of Gelatin

Gelatin is a pure protein. Nearly tasteless and odorless, it is easily digested with no cholesterol.

  • Gut Health - Gelatin is known to aid digestion and improve gut function.
  • Glowing Skin, Strong Hair, and Nails - Gelatin contains the amino acids glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline, which are collagen building blocks for your body.
  • Healthy Joints – Gelatin’s properties go further than skin-deep. They support joint health by increasing collagen production and improving the density of cartilage.

Glycine – a Natural Health Promoter

Glycine is a non-essential amino acid that your body makes naturally. It is also found in protein-rich foods and is available as a dietary supplement. The smallest of amino acids, glycine is utilized in the synthesis of other amino acids.

  • Detoxification/Glutathione Synthesis - As I mentioned earlier, gelatin is packed full of the amino acid glycine. Glycine is a key player when it comes to detoxification and is a precursor to glutathione synthesis. It helps protect your liver, processes toxins, and assists in the excretion of heavy metals.
  • Glucose Management - Glycine can help support healthy blood glucose
  • Sleep – In a 2007 study, supplementing with 3g of glycine before bed improved sleep quality by shortening the time it takes to fall asleep while increasing slow-wave sleep (the deepest phase of sleep).

Biocidin® - the Star Ingredient

Biocidin® is a proprietary blend of botanical extracts and essential oils that targets the entire GI tract and supports the balance of microorganisms in the microbiome.

Biocidin’s far-reaching effects include support for healthy digestion and biofilm cleansing, immunity, and detoxification.*

Now that you are familiar with the many and varied benefits of these health-promoting ingredients, let’s make some gummies!

Biocidin Gummies

Instructions

  1. Place ½-cup of juice (reserve the other half for step 2) in a medium bowl and sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the top of the liquid. The gelatin will absorb the juice and swell in size. Leave the mixture to bloom for a few minutes – the texture will resemble
  2. Meanwhile, heat the remaining ½-cup of juice in a small saucepan over medium heat until steaming hot (just before boiling).
  3. Turn off the heat and stir in the remainder of the ingredients – honey and/or glycine, Biocidin®, and açaí (optional).
  4. Remove the heated mixture from the stove and stir it into the bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved.
  5. Using a dropper, fill your gummy moulds with the mixture.
  6. Put the moulds in the refrigerator to firm up. If your molds are small, it should only take about 10 to 15 minutes for them to firm up enough to pop out.
  7. If you don’t have enough moulds to use all the gummy mixture at once, you can gently reheat the mixture over low heat when your molds are empty and ready to use again.
  8. Store the gummies in a sealed container in the refrigerator and serve at room temperature for optimal flavour and squishiness.
  9. Repeat for other flavors!
